This crochet pattern is for a sweet baby blanket reminiscent of cupcakes, hence its ‘Icing on the Cake’ name!
The design includes a variety of stitches, including shells, and bobble stiches made on a contrasting colour background. The pattern creates pretty colourful stripes, making a fun and eye-catching blanket.
Crochet level: competent beginner to intermediate.
The instructions are for a baby blanket size (approx. 69 x 83 cm / 27 x 33 inches) however, the formula needed for increasing your foundation chain in order to make a wider blanket is also detailed in the pattern
Tension / gauge : 18 stitches and 19 rows = 10cm measured over double crochet (UK terms) using a 4 mm hook
Tension is not critical for this project but will affect the finished size of the blanket and how much yarn is used.
This pattern is written in UK terms, however there is also a table included for conversion to US terms if you prefer to use these.
